I'm a New Zealander travelling to Hungary for study in November and then to Germany for a week to catch up with friends, and then to England for a week and a half to holiday.
I'm really interested in finding out more info about gigs and clubs that are on at the beginning of Decemeber in London as I'll be there then and in all honesty NZ lacks a lot in the riot grrrl, homocore, queercore scene.
I really wanted to go to Homo a Gogo this year, but I can't afford anymore overseas trips.
What sort of things could anyone suggest?
I've heard that Club Motherfucker is good in London. Any other suggestions?
Some of my favourite bands are the Gossip, the Butchies, Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre, Bikini Kill, Mirah, Team Dresch, Amy Kasio, Audio Porn etc.
See my profile for more info.
I'd also be interested in meeting up with people in London with similar interests.
Sorry if I end up spamming your communities.

Do you think it's fair to say Bikini Kill, early Hole and Babes In Toyland, Bratmobile and Heavens to Betsy were all "first generation" Riot Grrrl, Sleater Kinney and Julie Ruin were "second generation" and the newer out-crop (if, indeed, there are any) are the "third generation" bands? Or should the "first generation" be Riot Grrrl's influences (Joan Jett, early Sonic Youth, The Pixies etc)???

Sunday's a big day -- the Gossip return from Australia for three weeks of shows in the US, including a big performance at Kill Rock Stars' SXSW showcase. For those that missed the onesheet, enjoy these key phrases removed from context: "Dischord to Motown," "the sound of a band destroying and surpassing all expectations," "soulful and jagged," and "a new thundering beat for the kids."
Stream the entire new album here: "Gossip eCard"

hey! le tigre did a remix for the gossip's title track off their new album. you should check them out!
For the past five years this Portland, OR via Arkansas trio have been creating dance floor madness with their bluesy, soulful, down n' dirty, garage-punk rock & roll. With their attention to art, change, fashion, and the underground so apparent, The Gossip can easily fill any resume as artists, poets, writers, feminists, designers, musicians, and DJs. New drummer Hannah Blilie (Shoplifting, ex-Chromatics) joins booming vocalist Beth Ditto and guitarist Brace Paine (Die Monitr Batss) for the most rhythmic, jagged, thundering, punk and R&B hybrid around. With Guy Picciotto (Fugazi) lending his magic to the mixing board, this is the fiercest and most focused Gossip release yet. If you're lucky you've already caught them on tour with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Le Tigre, Erase Errata, Stereo Total, White Stripes, Sonic Youth, or Sleater Kinney.

I am writing a paper on hegemony/subjugated knowledge/ ideology.. and a lot of other feminist theories.
Part of my paper is focusing on transgender hip-hop artists KATASTROPHE,
and i was interested in hearing from anyone who is a fan of his. Any comments on his music and if it has impacted you in a big way, or a little way, or any way at all.

I successfully managed to make the Le Bateau DJ's play a Le Tigre song that was not
"Deceptacon". They played "TKO". Next week I'm aiming for "Hot Topic", although I know this won't happen.

I'm new. :)
Hello. I joined a few weeks ago,but never bothered to introduce myself.
Anyway....I'm doing a project for my Rock History class. We have to do biographies on our favorite bands, and so,obviously,I wanna do Le Tigre.
This is why I need the following information[Sorry if I sound completely clueless.....]
When was Le Tigre formed? Where?
What instruments are used?[apart from the Farfisa organ...]
What are their major influences?
Honestly,I'm having the most issues with the last one, because, honestly,I can't think of any other bands that remotely sound like they could've influenced Le Tigre, and I'm having a bitch of a time finding websites that would help me out.
Thanks, and rock on! :)
